We believe in the multiplying power of goodness. Each opportunity given to a child, adolescent or young person in a situation of risk represents an important step in their development and contribution to a better social and economic situation for their family and community. Equally important in this respect are the groups of producers and arisans which Onda Solidaria helps to produce and distribute their goods through the international constructs of ‘Fair Trade’ We develop, execture and monitor projects which nurture self-assistance, always offering opportunities for those involved to construct their own independence. Areas of actionEducation:General Objetive: to improve the relationship of children, adolescents and young people with teaching, understanding and formal education as part of their right to exercise citzenship.
Specific Objective: to expand learning through pedagogical activities and games designed to foster calm and well-balanced development.
Fair Trade:
Fair Trade is a relationship of exchange based on dialogue, transparency and respect. It contributes to sustainable development, offering fairer commercial conditions and assuring the working rights of small producers and marginalized workers, especially in the Southern Hemisphere. General Objective: To stimulate the development of work and income in Brazil through fostering projects and relationships of Fair Trade and support. To forge partnerships with artisan and health producers and to spread conscientious consumerism nationally and internationally Specific Objective: To support producers, spread Fair Trade and to campaign for the modification of the rules and practices of the conventional international market system.
Culture and CitizenshipSpecific Objective: Pedagogical and cultural projects with the objective of awakening in young people a comprehension and critical understanding of diverse methods of cultural expression.
To stimulate the social conscience of adolescents and young people through involvement in social campaigns.
Professsional QualificationSpecific Objective: Activities which prepare adolescents and young people for the work marketand develop competency and skills in the professional and personal spheres. To encoruage and support employable characteristics.
SportsGeneral Objective: Focus on education and healthy development of children and adolescents. Creation of environments in which to inculcate values of team work and support.
Specific Objective: To improve bodily co-ordination, self-esteem and self confidence. To encourage the development of children and adolescents through contact with nature and group activities.
Environmental ConscienceGeneral Objective: To include the concepts of environmental education in all our areas of action.
Specific Ojective: We envision experience-based practices which have the power to inspire children and young people not only to contribute to the conservation of the planet, but to reconnect with nature and ‘care for life’ in all its diverse forms
VillaThe Villa is our principal project in Onda Solidaria / Childrensaid. It combines the experience of our organization in generation of income for families (Fair Trade and Solidarity) with that of generating opportunities for children, adolescents and young people. It draws upon our wider net of solidarity throughout the world in creating a model of social action which is innovative and sustainable |
